Phill works the Democratic National Convention

Phill had the opportunity to work security at the Democratic National Convention. He was assigned to work Delegate Transportation. He basically rode around in a big bus all week picking up and dropping off Delegates from their Hotels to the Pepsi Center and Invesco Field and back to their Hotels. He said it was crazy downtown with all the Delegates in town. The protesters were the least of his problems. Here are a few pictures of what he did all week. Don't look at the times on the pictures, they are wrong.

Can you believe they paid him to sit around for hours waiting for his bus to arrive.

Movie Star Fran Drescher rode on Phills bus and posed for a picture with him. Yes she does talk like that. She was very nice. The Kennedys were also on his bus.


This is the Bus Phill rode all week and Tim the Bus driver. He was on the bus from 11:00 a.m until Midnight. They did get off a couple of times to eat.

Thursday night at Invesco Field. Phill was able to wander around and see everything. It was sure different than when the Broncos play.

Slip-N-Sliding Aug 1st 2008

Phills Nephew Joseph and his family came to visit us for his Graduation. They live in Cedar City Utah. Megan told the kids if they brought their swim suits that she would put up the slip-n-slide. So here are a few pictures of the kids and Megan having a great time slipping and slidding.

Joseph's Graduation from Westwood College Aug 1 2008

On Friday evening we went down to the Convention Center in Denver for Joseph's Graduation from Westwood College. We were all so proud of him for this accomplishment.

Sunday August 3rd we had a family BBQ Celebrating Josephs Graduation. We had lots of family over. Lets see there was Grandpa Waken, Paul & Jodie with Sarah, Lindsey & Spencer, Mike & Brie with Logan. Joseph & Marie, Veronica, Tyler, Samantha, Braelynn, Brenna. Then of course us, Phill, Diane, Phillip & Jenny, Amanda, Megan, Connie. That makes 23 people over for Sunday BBQ. We had a really good time eating and visiting.

Phill and Jenny finally got their home. They have been looking at homes for the past few months and after a rocky start were able to close on their new home. It is a really nice house and they have been working hard scrubbing and painting. Phillip tore out the old bathroom tiles and his dad has helped him retile the bathroom. It has been alot of work, but they are almost ready to move them in. Here are a few pictures on their house.

Family Reunion - July 4-8th

For the Theobald Family Reunion we went to Mount Rushmore/Devils Tower this year. Those in attendance were Mom and Dad Theobald, Diane & Phill Waken with Megan and Connie, Mike & Debbie Theobald, Sue & Greg Fox with Johnathon, Jessica and James, and Jody & Paul Lee with Sarah and Lindsey. We had a wonderful time with lots of visiting and sight seeing. We did miss those of you who were not able to be there with us. We were able to visit Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, Bear World, Devils Tower.

We had a wonderful time with our family and can't wait for the reunion next year.

Rockies Game - July 3rd

We went to the Rockies Baseball game on July 3rd, mostly to watch the fireworks, but we did enjoy the game. Yes the Rockies pulled it off in the 12th, the score was 6-5. Here is a picture of us giving Florida the finger. We were way up in the 3rd level but had great seats for the fireworks.
